This is going to be a quick post.... I am down in the business center at the hospital. I do not want to leave my little man alone, so here's the update:
Last night was HELL! He was in so much pain! He and I didn't sleep a wink. He was very congested from being intubated for 5 hours, so he started couching which didn't help his severe back pain. The nurse finally called the Respiratory team around 3am. They came in and suctioned him and then they had to put him on Oxygen.... more tubes for him to pull and yank on. Around 6am the Neurosurgeon came by and Jonathan proceeded to tell him that he had left a needle in his back and he needed to take it out! The morning continued to be rough with him crying in pain, but by lunch time he started to calm down a little. They were able to take him off of the Oxygen! Yeah! My sister came down to hang out with us and then Anita and Charlie came for a visit. You all may remember that Charlie and Jonathan were in the same orphanage in Uralsk and adopted within weeks of one another. Charlie was so kind, he brought Jonathan one of his toy penguins and a very special pillow/book. Charlie stood by Jon's bed and held his little hand. I really wish I had gotten a picture of that! What a special bond those two have! Later, my girlfriend, Liz and her 3 children stopped by for a visit. They brought Jonathan a movie and me a bag full of magazines and books. Once all the visitors left, Jonathan ate his first "meal" ~ he had chicken noodle soup, and orange sherbet. Once his belly was full he went right to sleep. And that's what he is doing right now... sleeping. THANK GOD! I am looking forward to sleeping a little myself!
Thanks for all the calls, visits, prayers, and love.
I am so grateful for all of our family and friends!

Prayers are with yall for sleep and Jon's quick recovery, surgery success, and more sweet comments from Jon to lighten your heart. Thank you for taking the time to update us on the blog. Sue
A needle in his back—ouch. Double ouch for having coughing fits all night. How much can this little guy endure? Hope you two got some much needed rest last night. What an experience.
Charlie holding Jon-Jon's hand—I agree that would've made some picture. Also glad to hear your sister was there for you. (I would've been a basket case.)
Your in our thoughts,
Karen, Bob and Garrett
