Yesterday was the big day for Alexis! We spent 3 1/2 hours at the orthodontist. In true Alexis fashion, there was lots of Drama! Even when they had her mouth opened as wide as it would go and she had a suction thing attached to her tongue she was still trying to talk! Yelping like a little puppy and she would not let me leave her side! I have little scratch marks on my hands - you would think that they were cutting her head off! Oh, and her eyes were huge the whole time. She is such a funny girl!
I made sure to keep her loaded with Motrin and Tylenol yesterday, but even with Motrin and benadryl before bedtime - she still got up and cried several times last night. We have started all over again today with the drama. She swears she is dying of pain. It is hard to tell if it is just an Emmy Award Winning performance - or if she really is in pain! I have also decided that I'm going to get her a necklace with a toothbrush attached to it because she is completely obsessed with brushing her teeth! She was up brushing her teeth at 11:45 last night! I guess that is a good thing, but good lord - go to sleep!
Yesterday afternoon I had my yearly eye exam. My MIL, Danita kept the kids for me. I was so looking forward to my eye exam because it is so quite in that office and I was going to be without the kids for a couple of hours! (I love my kids, but I also love my sanity!) I have noticed that I do not watch TV as much because it bothers my eyes and I have a lot of trouble seeing the screen on the computer, but when the nurse asked if I thought I might need glasses... I said "No!" She then did a few tests and announced that I might need to reconsider my answer! She then proceeded to do a lot of tests that I have never had before. Then I heard 2 of the Dr's talking about my chart. Then the Dr came in and said "wow, your eyes have gotten much worse!" Not what I wanted to hear! Long story short... Due to a inflammation of my optic nerve about 5 years ago, my eyes sustained permanent damage. Glasses will not help my eyes. Currently there is not a surgery to correct them, so I am stuck with the foggy, hazy sight that I have. The real bummer for me is that I am close to loosing my drivers license! That was the real punch in the stomach! I did not think that my eyes were that bad! Good Grief! :-0 I am Thankful that I did not loose my eye sight when I had the inflammation 5 years ago and I would be even more thankful if my eyes do not get any worse, so that I can continue to drive for many, many years... let's face it - I do not know anyone who would want to drive me around all the time nor would I want to depend on someone else!
I will post pics of Alexis with her new braces later today. For now, I am off to Atlanta. Jonathan has his eye dr apt today (Friday). How in the world I ended up with all these appointment in one week - I will never know! Pray that everything calms down before our host kids arrive. OH, and today is the day that Russia was suppose to issue passports for our host kids - so say an extra prayer for that situation! I will update everyone as soon as I hear something from New Horizons!

Oh my gosh Holly, how do you keep everything straight? Between the braces, the dog bite, the eyes and cooking for 22 people, I'm surprised you didn't need a month at the spa. I'm going to take a nap right now, because I'm exhausted from reading all your entries. LOL. Thanks for the updates!!!
