I had my recipe club cookie swap this morning... the only problem was that I messed up my cookies! No problem, I just ran to my mom's house and took some of her homemade fudge with me! When I came home I HAD to redo those cookies because I had planned on having them for the host kids to enjoy tomorrow... I am HAPPY to report the second batch of gingerbread men turned out perfect!!!
So today we are scrambling around trying to get everything ready for the kids arrival tonight. We are all so excited!!! For those of you in the ATL area - watch the news tomorrow (not sure which network will pick up the story) because they are suppose to be covering the story of the children arriving at the airport tonight! And our local newspaper is suppose to interview us as well - I will keep everyone posted on this. Pray that it gives the hosting program positive press!
So anyway, We are suppose to meet the group of host parents tonight at 11pm. The kids flight from NY will arrive in ATL at 11:30pm. We have to hang out until our family pic is made by one of the reps from the agency - this is then sent back to the officials in Russia to show that the kids arrived safe and sound. Once that is out of the way, we are free to come home. It usually takes 1 hour or longer to get to/from the airport and our house, so we will be very late getting home. Jonathan was suppose to go to school in the morning, but I do not see that happening! But Jack and Alexis have piano lessons in the morning - and there is no skipping that unless they are sick, so my MIL has offered to take them for me! Thank Goodness!
Can't wait to share pics with everyone tomorrow!

I was wondering if you had them or not yet. How exciting.

Woo-woo, can't wait to see your pictures and hear all about it. When we hosted in 2006, it was quite a moving event. At the airport, all the kids were holding hands, marching in double file, wearing the same yellow tee-shirts. I bawled my eyes out—they were so small, tired and scared. This is life changing stuff.
Good luck Holly!!!!
I started reading this post at 11:27 pm! I got goosebumps thinking that you were just meeting your host kids!!
