Doing whatever it takes!

I contacted our Congressman on Friday regarding the US Consulate in Russia issuing the siblings Visas for the trip. There are a couple of other children in the same situation, so I included their names in the letter as well. Of course I checked with the NHFC before I took this step! They were hopeful that this would help. So only time will tell!

The latest news from the staff in Russia is that they are planning to present the paperwork of the 5 children that need Visa's on Dec 9th when they have Visa interviews for the other children coming on the hosting program. They will explain to the US Consulate that these 5 children have plane tickets and host families expecting them... PRAY that the US Consulate will issue the Visa's immediately! If they do not, then the earliest the children can have their Visa interview is Dec 22nd. Then they can travel to the US on the 23rd or 24th - as long as we can find a chaperon for the 5 children. Of course the airline tickets will be more expensive being closer to the Christmas Holidays (NHFC had already purchased tickets with the original travel dates in mind).
