"I didn't do it!"

Last night I was on the phone when I heard Jackson whispered to Josh that he thinks Jon-Jon's bed might be broken. Even though I was on the phone, my mommy ears perked up and I quickly hung the phone up... Then I said to Jack "what did you just say to Daddy!?!?!" To which he replied - "I didn't do it!" Those of you that know Jack - know that he says this often! And many times he DID do it, but I am happy to report that this time - he was telling the truth! Here's what happened:
Yesterday I had about 7 kids running around in the house, playing and goofing off. My hubby, Josh was out of town at an all day soccer tournament, so I was alone with a house full of kids while I was trying to clean and finish my home improvement projects. The kids were all up stairs except for Jonathan - he was under my feet all day! Of course I could hear the kids making all kids of noise and banging around, but that is not unusual. Nobody ever tattled on each other - so everything seemed to be fine! At some point during the day, one of Jackson's Friends sat on Jonathan's bed rail and broke the bed! This was a nice solid wood bunk bed! We had the rails on Jonathan's bed even through it is the bottom buck because he rolls off the bed! Now they are split into! It even broke the main support under the bed! The child that did this weighs around 90- 100 lbs - those rails are not meant to be sat on by anyone! I'm not mad that it happened - I am little upset that nobody bother to tell me when it happened! We talked to Jack and Alexis about the importance of telling Mommy and Daddy as soon as something happens so that we can handle it. The child that broke the bed has broken other things in our house over the years - he is a little clumsy! Oh, and he also taught the kids a few new words - LOVELY!!! I had to have a long talk with them this morning about the language issues... I could not deal with it last night!!!! Anyway, Josh was able to mend the bed back into decent shape, but I really hate that he broke the bed! I was planning on one of our host kids using that bed, but now I am not sure it can hold him! Here is a pic of the boys bed - before the incident.

This picture does not show the long wooden rail that goes down the whole length of the bottom bunk that the child broke.

oh bummer....but i am glad no one got hurt.

Sean has a friend that he has known since he was 3. He used to always break something or Sean would end up crying....but thank goodness he has grown out of it cuz it was exhausting. :)

There is never a dull moment at your house! The host kids are going to be enthralled!

Kids—what are you going to do with them? You think you've figured things out and then ka-bam something else happens. As I wrote in my latest blog entry, "More and more, I think you need a PhD in parenting." I think you're working on yours right now, Dr. Mom. LOL
